The Eyes of Faith

Faith pleases God. God wants to be believed. God told Abraham to look at the stars to see how his descendants will be. He calls things that be not as though they were. He wants us to see with the eyes of faith and see as He sees.

Faith is evidence of things not seen

Heb. 11:1 1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

What you can see you can have

Gen. 13:14 14And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: 15For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.

Speak to the vision

Just like a pregnant woman would speak to her unborn child so too God told Abraham to “tell the stars”. The stars were his children.

Gen. 15:5 5And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

See as God sees

Rom. 4:17 17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

Look for the promise

Heb. 11:9 9By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: 10For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

See God’s goodness

Ps. 34:8 8O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

Use your eyes to build your faith

Hab. 2:2 2And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. 3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. 4Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Deut. 6:5 5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

Your blessed when you can see

Matt. 13:16 16But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
