God instructs us to put on the whole armor of God. This armor that we are instructed to put on are the fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of Christ. The armor of God is defensive and offensive. The defensive armor is put on by learning the fruit of the Spirit and of Christ and the offensive armor is put on by speaking them. When you have on the whole armor of God you will be victorious against the devil and sin.
Jesus had on the whole armor of God
Jn 14:30 30Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.
Protect your body
Luke 11:20 20But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. 21When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace: 22But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. 23He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth.
We are to put on Christ
Rom. 13:14 14But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Put on the whole armor through learning
Matt. 11:29 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Col. 3:10 10And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
Rom. 12:1 1I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
2 Tim 3:16 16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

The helmet of salvation is learning
Eph. 6: 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
The helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit are both the word of God. You put on the helmet of salvation by learning the fruit of the Spirit and of Christ. The sword is used by speaking the fruit of the Spirit.
Put on the whole armor of God
Eph. 6:10 10Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Rom. 6:22 22But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.
Gal. 5:22 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Offensive Armor
The sword of the Spirit is speaking the fruit of the spirit.
Eph. 6: 17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Heb. 4:12 12For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
